Lao Vida is primarily a training facility. There is an English language program for city Lao in the evening and Vocational training programs for sponsored rural Lao during the day. One of these vocational programs is bakery, so the Vida Bakery Cafe was set up to help transition our alumni into full time work. Tribal Lao are often seen as third class citizens in Laos, and it is impossible for them to be anything other than subsistent living farmers, without programs like ours. We strive to give our students training that is equivalent to what they would receive in the western world. Trained by Ozzies, Kiwis and Poms, means our cafe is the only place you can really hope to get a truly western style breakfast and lunch. Our staff can also make a mean cup of coffee, which is a welcome relief from the bitter, condensed milk laden things that are available on the main road. Eating here really means you are helping to make a difference for our tribal staff and their families, and we are sure you will enjoy the difference of our cafe to anything else that is available in this part of the country.
